Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of
Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples,
‘Who do people say that I am?’ 28And they answered
him, ‘John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and still
others, one of the prophets.’ 29He asked them, ‘But
who do you say that I am?’ Peter answered him, ‘You
are the Messiah.’ 30 And he sternly ordered them not
to tell anyone about him. 31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.

και εν τη οδω επηρωτα τους μαθητας
αυτου λεγων αυτοις τινα με λεγουσιν

και επετιμησεν αυτοις ινα μηδενι
λεγωσιν περι αυτου

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi,
he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say that the
Son of Man is?’ 14And they said, ‘Some say John the
Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah
or one of the prophets.’ 15He said to them, ‘But who
do you say that I am?’ 16Simon Peter answered, ‘You
are the Messiah,* the Son of the living God.’ 17And
Jesus answered him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of
Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to
you, but my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you, you
are Peter,* and on this rock* I will build my church,
and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,
and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’
20Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell
anyone that he was* the Messiah.* 21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.

ο ιησους εις τα μερη καισαρειας
της φιλιππου ηρωτα τους μαθητας
αυτου λεγων τινα λεγουσιν οι
ανθρωποι ειναι τον υιον του ανθρωπου

βαπτιστην αλλοι δε ηλιαν ετεροι
δε ιερεμιαν η ενα των προφητων

σιμων πετρος ειπεν συ ει ο χριστος
ο υιος του θεου του ζωντος

αποκριθεις δε ο ιησους ειπεν αυτω
μακαριος ει σιμων βαριωνα οτι
σαρξ και αιμα ουκ απεκαλυψεν
σοι αλλ ο πατηρ μου ο εν {VAR1: [τοις]

18 καγω δε
σοι λεγω οτι συ ει πετρος και
επι ταυτη τη πετρα οικοδομησω
μου την εκκλησιαν και πυλαι αδου
ου κατισχυσουσιν αυτης

σοι τας κλειδας της βασιλειας των
ουρανων και ο εαν δησης επι της
γης εσται δεδεμενον εν τοις ουρανοις
και ο εαν λυσης επι της γης εσται
λελυμενον εν τοις ουρανοις

18 Once when
Jesus was praying alone, with only the disciples near him, he asked
them, ‘Who do the crowds say that I am?’
19They answered, ‘John
the Baptist; but others, Elijah; and still others, that one of the
ancient prophets has arisen.’ 20He
said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Peter
answered, ‘The Messiah* of God.’
21 He sternly
ordered and commanded them not to tell anyone, 22saying,
‘The Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be
rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes,
and be killed, and on the third day be raised.’ 23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
24For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?

εν τω ειναι αυτον προσευχομενον
κατα μονας συνησαν αυτω οι μαθηται
και επηρωτησεν αυτους λεγων τινα

πετρος δε αποκριθεις ειπεν τον
χριστον του θεου
21 ο δε επιτιμησας
αυτοις παρηγγειλεν μηδενι λεγειν
τουτο
22 ειπων οτι δει τον υιον
του ανθρωπου πολλα παθειν και
αποδοκιμασθηναι απο των πρεσβυτερων
και αρχιερεων και γραμματεων
και αποκτανθηναι και τη τριτη
ημερα εγερθηναι
